Today the sun emitted an impressive CME at about 04:00 UTC. This event is related to a coronal hole in the sun’s southern latitudes. Click the image to see a video of this rather large event. The stream of particles could reach Earth’s orbit on Jan. 26-27. Due to the fact that it is in the southern latitude the solar wind it emits might miss our planet.
In any case it is a very impressive event to watch and one of the largest that has been seen in a while. Daily space weather can be monitored on the KnowledgeOrb Space Weather page which has real time updates. To get free email notifications if solar events you can subscribe here.
