Inner Rocker Help
«

Hey Dan,
I am really enjoying your website on the rebuilding of your '69 mustang. I have a '68 convertible and have a question regarding the replacment of the inner rocker rails. Specifically, how did you locate the rails onto the vehicle? mine currently has a piece of square tubing welded in there and when I remove it, I don't see what edge or surface I need to use to place the new piece (front to back). Any help you might give with descriptions or images would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve,
Replacing the inner rockers was a real pain, I did not remove the OUTER rocker and that gave me a guide....if you send me some pictures of what you are talking about I may understand better. Lining it up was easy as I just used the outer rocker as a guide for it.

Dan,
Does the bent tab on the new inner rocker rail mate up with the front of
the outter rocker and get sandwhiched between the outter rocker and the
torque box? Is that how it is located, front to back? The old inner
rocker currently does not exist on my vehicle (it had been replaced with
some square tubing, so I have no idea on exactly how to locate the new
rocker.
Thanks,
Steve

As for the tab I am not sure what you are talking about but yes the inner rocker goes between the outer rocker and the torque box. The Rocker runs all the way from the end of the rocker extention to under the rear window area. It gets spot welded directly to the outer rocker. You should be able to measure from the end of the outer rocker extention back the length of the inner rocker and you will see what I mean about it going under the rear window.
